Sri P. K. Srinivasan

Perumalagaram Krishnaswamy Srinivasan was born at Perumalagarm, a small town near Chennai and raised in Mylapore, Madras (now known as Chennai). He had a penchant for Sanskrit and Carnatic music even as a youth. As an adult, he spent many years learning and mastering Sanskrit and Carnatic music. It was his dream to advance Sanskrit and he constantly found ways to simplify the learning process.

As soon as he retired from his post as Assistant General Manager, Government of India’s Post and Telegram Department in 1982, he dedicated his time to advancing Sanskrit. He devised his one own techniques to simplify Sanskrit and teach to not only children but youth and adults of all ages. He took immense pleasure in teaching Sanskrit to economically disadvantages students and rewarded all students with prizes, in Chennai. He also served as Trustee of Sri Vendantha Desikar Devasthanam Srinivasa Perumal Temple, Mylapore, Chennai.

His love for Carnatic music was equally great. He deeply believed in therapeutic value of Carnatic music which actually helped him deal with cancer. He conducted a lot of research in Carnatic music and Bharatha natyam. Leading personalities like Sri Dananjayan and Smt. Chitra Visweswaran consulted with him, cleared their doubts and enriched their knowledge-base.

He wrote many articles on Carnatic music for Shanmugha of Bombay (Mumbai) and Saptagiri of Tirumalai Tirupati Devasthanam.

We plan to include audio files for each Sanskrit rhyme to enable proper pronunciation. Our intent is to publish the rhymes in the form a book or books.
